Why is my Audi A3's engine making a clicking noise?

I have noticed a clicking noise coming from my Audi A3's engine while it's running. It's a new car, so I'm not sure what could be causing it. How serious is this issue and what should I do about it?

It's possible that the clicking noise is due to low oil levels. Check your oil dipstick and top off if needed.
