Why is my Audi A1 making a strange noise when I start it?

I recently purchased a used Audi A1 and have noticed that it makes a strange noise when I start the engine. It sounds like a grinding or whining noise. What could be causing this and is it something I should be concerned about?

It is possible that the noise you are hearing is coming from an issue with the starter motor. This is a common problem in Audi A1s and can be caused by wear and tear or a faulty part.

Another possible cause could be a problem with the alternator or belt. If the belt is worn or loose, it can create a whining noise when the engine is running. It is important to get this checked out as it could lead to further damage if left untreated.

You may also want to check the oil level in your engine. If it is low, it can cause strange noises and decrease the overall performance of your car.
