Why does the Audi A6 have a start-stop system?

I'm curious about the reason behind the Audi A6's start-stop system. Does it contribute to better fuel efficiency? Is it beneficial for the environment? Is there an option to disable it?

The start-stop system in the Audi A6 allows for better fuel efficiency by automatically turning off the engine when the car is at a complete stop and then restarting it when the driver releases the brake. This can reduce fuel consumption by up to 5%. However, if you find the system bothersome, there is an option to disable it.

Not only do start-stop systems help with fuel efficiency, but they also reduce vehicle emissions, making them more environmentally friendly. Audi has made this system standard in all their latest models, including the A6.
