What is the difference between the Audi 80 and the Audi A3?

Can someone explain the main differences between the Audi 80 model and the Audi A3 model? I am looking to buy a car and am trying to decide between the two. Thanks!

The Audi 80 is the predecessor of the Audi A3 and was produced from 1966 to 1996, while the A3 was introduced in 1996 as a replacement. The A3 has a more modern design and newer technology compared to the older 80 model.
