How to program my garage door opener on the Audi A3?

I recently got an Audi A3 and I'm having trouble programming my garage door opener with the built-in HomeLink system. Can anyone provide step-by-step instructions?

To program your garage door opener, first press and hold the two outer buttons on the HomeLink system until the indicator light starts flashing rapidly. Then, while holding your garage door remote close to the HomeLink buttons, press and hold the corresponding button on the remote and the HomeLink button simultaneously. The light on the HomeLink system will start to flash slowly and then rapidly. Once this happens, release both buttons and the programming should be complete.

I had trouble with this as well. Another tip is to make sure your garage door opener is in 'learn' or 'program' mode before attempting to program it with the HomeLink system. Refer to your garage door opener manual for instructions on how to do this.
