How to fix the starter motor on an Audi 80?

The starter motor on my Audi 80 is no longer functioning properly. When I try to start the car, there is just a clicking noise and the engine won't start. What steps should I take to fix the issue?

First, make sure the battery connections are clean and tight. If they are loose or corroded, this could be causing the issue. Next, check the wiring connections to the starter motor. If these are loose or damaged, the motor won't receive enough power to start the engine. If everything looks good, the starter motor itself may need to be replaced.

E

Try tapping the starter motor with a hammer or wrench. Sometimes the internal parts can get stuck and this can help it start working again. If this doesn't work, the starter motor may need to be replaced. Make sure to disconnect the battery before attempting any repairs.

B

Before replacing the starter motor, check the fuse and relay for the starter circuit. If they are blown or damaged, this could be preventing the starter motor from receiving power. If they are fine, the starter motor may need to be replaced. It's best to have a professional mechanic diagnose and replace the motor to avoid any potential safety risks.
