How do I troubleshoot the engine cooling system on my Audi 80?

I've been having issues with my engine overheating and I'm not sure what could be causing it. What steps can I take to diagnose and fix the problem?

First and foremost, make sure that your coolant levels are correct and that there are no leaks in the system. If that's not the issue, then you may want to check the radiator for any clogs or blockages. If that doesn't help, it's possible that your water pump or thermostat may be malfunctioning. It's best to take your car to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis and repair.

Another possible issue could be a faulty radiator fan. Check to see if the fan is working properly and if not, it may need to be replaced. Additionally, check the condition of your radiator hoses for any leaks or cracks. These can easily be replaced if needed.

Make sure to also check your engine's timing and make sure it's in sync. If it's not, this could also cause overheating issues. If you notice any strange noises coming from the engine, it's possible that your water pump may need to be replaced.
