How do I connect my phone to my Audi A1 via Bluetooth?

I recently bought an Audi A1 and I'm having trouble connecting my phone to the car's Bluetooth system. I've tried following the instructions in the manual, but it still won't connect. Can anyone provide a step by step guide on how to do this?
