I just got my hands on a 1989 Audi 80 and I want to give it a tune-up. I've never worked on this model before and I'm not sure how to change the spark plugs. Can anyone give me some tips?
ReplyChanging the spark plugs on a 1989 Audi 80 is a fairly simple process. First, locate the spark plug wires. Carefully remove each wire from the spark plug and set them aside. Then, use a spark plug socket and ratchet to remove the old spark plugs. Make sure to check the gap on the new spark plugs before installing them. Then, simply place the new spark plugs in the socket and carefully thread them into place. Finally, reattach the spark plug wires and you're done!
I've found that using dielectric grease on the spark plug wires can help prevent corrosion and make removing them in the future easier. Also, be sure to torque the new spark plugs to the recommended specs listed in your Audi 80's manual.
