How can I diagnose a faulty fuel pump in my Audi 80?

I suspect that my Audi 80's fuel pump is the cause of my car stalling and not starting. What are some steps I can take to properly diagnose and fix the issue?

First, you can test the fuel pump relay by swapping it with a known working relay. If the car starts, then the relay was the issue.
