How can I check if my radiator is functioning properly in my Audi 80?

I noticed my Audi 80's engine temperature has been consistently higher than normal. I suspect there may be an issue with the radiator. How can I test if it is functioning properly and ensure my engine doesn't overheat?

One way to check if your radiator is working is to feel the hoses connected to it while the engine is running. If they are warm, then your radiator is most likely functioning properly. Another way is to use an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature of the radiator's fins. It should be relatively consistent across the surface.

If you suspect your radiator is not working properly, it's best to take it to a mechanic for a professional diagnosis. They can pressure test the radiator and check for any leaks or blockages. It's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your engine's cooling system.

In addition to checking the radiator, make sure to also inspect the radiator cap and coolant levels. The cap should be tightly sealed and the coolant should be at the proper level. Low coolant levels can also contribute to overheating issues.
