Why does my Audi A6 make a grinding noise when I press the brakes?

I've noticed that my Audi A6 has been making a grinding noise whenever I press on the brakes. This just started happening recently and I'm not sure what could be causing it. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?

The grinding noise is likely due to worn out brake pads. As your pads wear down, they will start to make a metal-on-metal sound when you apply the brakes. This is a safety issue and you should have your brake pads replaced as soon as possible.

It could also be a problem with your brake rotors. If your brake pads have worn down, they may have caused damage to your rotors. In this case, you'll need to have your rotors resurfaced or replaced.

Another possible issue could be a lack of lubrication on the brake calipers. This can cause friction and grinding noises when the brakes are applied. Have your mechanic check the calipers and add lubrication if necessary.
