Why does my Audi A3's engine make a strange noise at high speeds?

I recently noticed that my Audi A3's engine makes a loud whirring sound when I am driving at speeds over 100 km/h. It seems to only happen when I am accelerating. What could be causing this and is it something I should be worried about?

The most likely cause of the strange noise is an issue with the engine's air intake. It could be a loose or damaged air filter, which can affect the airflow and cause the whirring sound. My suggestion would be to have it checked and replaced if necessary by a certified mechanic. It's always better to address potential engine problems sooner rather than later.

Another possible reason for the noise could be a problem with the exhaust system. A damaged or loose exhaust pipe or muffler can cause unusual sounds when driving at high speeds. I recommend taking your Audi to a trusted mechanic who can inspect and repair any issues with the exhaust system.

If your Audi A3 has a turbocharged engine, the strange noise could be a sign of an issue with the turbocharger itself. This component can wear out over time and may need to be replaced. I advise taking your car to an experienced mechanic who can properly diagnose and repair any issues with the turbocharger.
