Why does my Audi A3 emit a strange noise when shifting gears?

I recently noticed that my Audi A3 makes a strange noise when I shift gears, especially when accelerating. It sounds like a high pitched whine. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

This noise is most likely coming from your transmission and could be caused by worn or damaged gears or bearings. It's important to have it checked by a certified mechanic as soon as possible to avoid further damage.

I had a similar issue with my Audi A3 and it turned out to be a faulty transmission fluid pump. Make sure to have your transmission fluid checked and replaced if needed. This should resolve the noise issue.

If your Audi A3 has a dual-clutch transmission, this noise could also be caused by a faulty flywheel or clutch. It's important to have these components checked and replaced if necessary.
