I am considering buying an Audi A8 and am intrigued by their advanced driver assistance technologies. However, I am confused about the differences between the Adaptive Cruise Control system and the Traffic Jam Assist system. Can anyone clarify?

The Audi Adaptive Cruise Control system allows the driver to set a speed and a minimum distance to maintain from the vehicle in front. It uses radar sensors to detect other vehicles and adjust the car’s speed accordingly. In contrast, the Traffic Jam Assist system combines adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist to maintain the car's position in slow-moving traffic. It also includes steering assist.

Think of the Adaptive Cruise Control as cruise control with enhanced safety features. It helps maintain a safe distance from other vehicles on the road, making long drives more relaxing. The Traffic Jam Assist system is ideal for stop-and-go traffic situations, as it can take over steering, braking, and accelerating at speeds below 37 mph. However, it requires the driver to keep their hand on the steering wheel.
