How do I change the battery in an Audi A3?

I have a 2018 Audi A3 and the battery seems to have died. How can I change the battery myself? What type of battery should I get? Do I need any special tools?

To change the battery, first, locate the battery in the trunk under the floor panel. Use a 10mm socket wrench to loosen and remove the negative terminal. Then, do the same for the positive terminal. Unclip the battery hold-down bracket and lift the battery out. Remember to properly dispose of the old battery and clean the cable ends with a wire brush before installing the new battery.

When purchasing a new battery for your Audi A3, make sure to get an AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery as it is specifically designed for vehicles with start-stop technology like the A3. Additionally, make sure to get a battery with at least 850 cold cranking amps (CCA) to ensure proper starting power.

As for special tools, most basic tool sets should have what you need to change the battery in an Audi A3. However, it may be helpful to have a battery terminal puller and a battery clamp reamer to properly clean and install the cable ends on the new battery.
