Why is my Audi A6 making a grinding noise when braking?

I recently noticed that my Audi A6 has been making a grinding noise whenever I press on the brake pedal. It seems to be coming from the front wheels. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It is possible that you may have worn brake pads. If this is the case, you should have them replaced as soon as possible to avoid further damage to your brake system.

Another common cause of grinding noises when braking is rusty rotors. This can happen if your car has been sitting for a while or if you frequently drive in wet conditions. You may need to have your rotors resurfaced or replaced.
