Why are the brakes squeaking on my Audi A4?

I recently noticed that when I apply my brakes on my Audi A4, they make a high pitched squeaking noise. It's been happening for a few weeks now and I'm not sure what could be causing it. It's definitely not the brake pads, as they were recently replaced. Any ideas?

Hi Mary, it's possible that the rotors may have developed a thin layer of rust due to humidity or moisture in the air. This can happen when the car sits for a period of time without being driven. I would suggest taking your car for a short drive and gently applying the brakes to see if the noise goes away.

Another possibility could be that your brake pads are not properly aligned with the rotors. This can happen if they were not installed correctly or if there is debris stuck between the pads and rotors. It's a good idea to have a mechanic take a look and make sure everything is in proper working order.
