I've noticed that my Audi A5's gears are shifting harder and I suspect that the automatic transmission fluid needs to be changed. Can anyone provide instructions for how to change the fluid on an Audi A5?
ReplyFirst, locate the drain plug at the bottom of the transmission pan and place a drain pan underneath it. Once the fluid has drained, remove and clean the drain plug before replacing it. Then, locate the fill plug on the side of the transmission and use a hand pump to fill it with fresh fluid until it starts to overflow.
Before draining the old fluid, measure how much is in the transmission so you know how much to replace. You can do this by either using a measuring cup or marking the dipstick with a sharpie. This will ensure that you don't overfill or underfill the transmission.
It's recommended to also replace the transmission filter when changing the fluid. The filter is usually located inside the transmission pan and can be replaced by removing the pan and then the old filter. Make sure to clean the pan before installing the new filter.
