Why is the range of the Audi e-Tron significantly lower in colder temperatures?

I've noticed that the range of my Audi e-Tron decreases significantly when I am driving in cold weather. Is this a common issue?

The battery of the Audi e-Tron is affected by temperature just like any other electric vehicle. In colder temperatures, the chemical reactions within the battery slow down and cause a decrease in range.
