Why is the fuel economy on my Audi A5 inconsistent?

I noticed that the fuel economy on my Audi A5 is not consistent, sometimes it's better than usual and sometimes it's worse. What could be causing this issue?

Your Audi A5 may be equipped with a start-stop system, which automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop to save fuel. However, if you frequently make short trips or regularly hit traffic, it may actually decrease your fuel efficiency.

Another possible explanation for the inconsistent fuel economy could be a malfunctioning oxygen sensor. This sensor measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust and helps the engine adjust the fuel-air ratio. If the sensor is not working properly, it can lead to poor fuel economy.

Have you checked your tire pressure recently? Underinflated tires can increase rolling resistance and cause your Audi A5 to use more fuel. Make sure to regularly check and maintain your tire pressure, especially before long trips.
