Why is my Audi A3 making a strange humming noise while idling?

I've noticed a strange humming noise coming from my Audi A3 while it's idling. It seems to be coming from the engine area. Any insights on what could be causing this and how to fix it?

It could be due to a misaligned or worn out serpentine belt. This belt helps power components like the alternator and power steering pump, and if it's loose or worn out, it can produce a humming noise. It's best to have a mechanic check and replace the belt if needed.

Another possibility is a faulty air conditioning compressor. If the noise increases when you turn on the AC, this could be the culprit. Have a professional inspect and replace the compressor if necessary.

Check your engine oil level and quality. Low or dirty oil can cause the engine to make unusual noises. Consider getting an oil change and using a high quality, recommended oil for your Audi A3.
