Why is my Audi A1's engine making a knocking noise?

I recently noticed a knocking noise coming from my Audi A1's engine. It seems to be worse when the car is idling. What could be causing this and what should I do?

It's possible that your engine is low on oil. Make sure to check the oil level and add more if needed. If the noise persists, it could be a sign of a more serious engine issue and you should bring your car to a mechanic for further inspection.

Another common cause for knocking noises in the engine is a worn out timing belt. This is a critical component of the engine and should be replaced regularly according to the manufacturer's recommendations. If you haven't replaced your timing belt recently, it's definitely worth getting it checked by a professional.
