Why is my Audi A1 making a knocking noise when turning?

I recently purchased an Audi A1 and I have noticed a strange knocking noise coming from the front when I make sharp turns. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Based on my experience as a mechanic, the most likely cause of this knocking noise is worn out or damaged CV joints. These joints, located on both ends of the front axle, allow for smooth turning and can wear out over time. It is important to have them checked and replaced if necessary to avoid further damage and potential safety concerns.

I had the same issue with my Audi A1 and it turned out to be a faulty steering rack. I would suggest taking your car to a certified Audi mechanic for diagnosis and repair. Don't wait too long as it could lead to more serious and costly problems in the future.

It could also be an issue with the suspension system, particularly the shock absorbers. If they are worn out or damaged, they can cause the knocking noise you are hearing. Get them checked and replaced if necessary to improve your driving experience and safety.
