Why is my Audi 80's engine making a ticking noise on cold start?

I recently noticed that my Audi 80 makes a loud ticking noise whenever I start it in the morning or after it has been sitting for a few hours. The noise seems to go away after the car warms up and I have been driving for a few minutes. Is this something I should be concerned about?

The ticking noise on cold start is likely caused by hydraulic lifters losing pressure when the engine is off for extended periods of time. This can be common in older vehicles like the Audi 80, but it's always best to get it checked out by a mechanic just to be sure. In the meantime, you can try switching to a high-quality synthetic oil which can help reduce the noise.
