Why does the Audi A8 have air suspension instead of traditional coil springs?

I've noticed that many luxury cars follow a traditional suspension structure using coil springs, but the Audi A8 seems to have air suspension instead. Can anyone explain the reasoning behind this design choice? Is it solely for a smoother ride or are there other benefits?

The air suspension in the Audi A8 provides a much more comfortable driving experience, absorbing bumps and shocks better than traditional coil springs. It also allows for different suspension settings, giving the driver more control over the ride quality. From personal experience, the air suspension in the A8 has made a significant difference in my daily commute.
