Why does the Audi A6 3.0 TFSI have a higher fuel efficiency than the 2.0 TFSI?

I am considering purchasing an Audi A6 and noticed that the 3.0 TFSI has a higher fuel efficiency rating than the 2.0 TFSI. Can anyone explain why this might be the case despite the larger engine size?

The Audi A6 3.0 TFSI has a cylinder deactivation system, which shuts down half of the cylinders when the engine is not under heavy load. This greatly improves fuel efficiency without sacrificing power.
