Why does the Audi A1 have a smaller boot compared to other models?

I've noticed that the Audi A1's boot space is smaller than other models in the same category. Is there a specific reason for this?

The A1 actually has a deceivingly large boot space, with up to 335 litres of capacity with the seats up. It's only when compared to other larger models that it may seem smaller. But for its size, it's still a very practical car.
