Why does my Audi A8 make a rattling noise when I start it?

I have noticed that my Audi A8 makes a rattling noise when I start it in the morning, but it goes away after a few seconds. It also only happens when the engine is cold. Is this normal?

The rattling noise you hear in the morning is most likely caused by the timing chain tensioners being weak or worn out. The cold engine causes the oil to thicken, making it harder for the tensioners to do their job. It is recommended to have them checked and replaced if needed by a certified mechanic.

It is possible that the rattling noise is caused by a loose heat shield on the exhaust system. This is a common issue on Audi A8s and can easily be fixed by securing or replacing the heat shield. It is important to address this issue as driving with a loose heat shield can cause damage to other components.
