Why does my Audi A6 engine make a ticking sound?

Whenever I start my Audi A6, the engine makes a loud ticking sound for a few seconds. It eventually stops, but it's concerning. What could be causing this and should I be worried?

The ticking sound on start-up is usually caused by the lifters in the engine. It's a common issue in Audi A6 and generally nothing to worry about. However, if the sound is persistent or gets louder, it could indicate a more serious problem and you should have it checked by a mechanic.

The most likely cause of the ticking sound is a low engine oil level. Check your oil level and top up if needed. If the sound persists, it could also be due to a faulty oil pump or dirty oil - in which case, an oil change may be necessary.
