Why does my Audi A4 make a whirring noise when accelerating?

I recently purchased a used Audi A4 and have noticed a whirring noise coming from the engine when I accelerate. It seems to get louder the faster I go. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

The most likely cause of the whirring noise is a worn out or damaged wheel bearing. It is important to have this checked and replaced as soon as possible, as a failed wheel bearing can cause serious damage to your vehicle and compromise your safety on the road.
