Why does my Audi A4 engine make a ticking noise at idle?

I recently purchased a used Audi A4 and have noticed a ticking noise coming from the engine when the car is at idle. The noise seems to go away when I accelerate. What could be causing this and is it something I should be concerned about?

It is likely that your Audi A4's engine is producing a ticking noise due to an issue with the valve lifters. These are responsible for controlling the intake and exhaust valves and when they become worn or dirty, they can make a ticking noise. It is recommended to have a mechanic inspect and potentially replace the valve lifters to avoid further engine damage.
