Why does my Audi 80's engine make a ticking noise when idle?

I have a 1999 Audi 80 and it has been making a noticeable ticking noise when at idle. This noise goes away when I start driving, but returns when the car is back at idle. What could be causing this?

This ticking noise could be caused by a faulty valve or lifter. I recommend bringing your car to a mechanic for further diagnosis and repairs.
