Why does my Audi 80's engine make a knocking noise when starting?

I have noticed that my Audi 80 makes a knocking noise when I start the engine. It goes away after a few seconds but I'm still concerned. What could be causing this and should I be worried?

The knocking noise on startup is a common issue in Audi 80s and is usually caused by a failing hydraulic valve lifter. While it may seem concerning, it is not a serious problem and can be easily fixed by replacing the lifter.

It could also be a sign of low oil pressure. Check your oil levels and if they are low, top them up immediately. If this does not solve the issue, it is best to take your car to a mechanic to get it checked out.
