Why does my Audi 80 have a rough idle when starting the engine?

Recently, my Audi 80 has been experiencing a rough idle when starting the engine. The car seems to shake and sputter before settling into a normal idle. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?

The most common cause of a rough idle when starting an Audi 80 is a dirty or faulty idle air control valve. This valve controls the air flow into the engine at idle and can become clogged with debris over time. Cleaning or replacing the valve should solve the issue.

Another possible cause of a rough idle on an Audi 80 is a dirty air filter. If the filter is clogged, it can restrict air flow to the engine and cause it to run roughly. Check and replace the air filter if necessary.
