Why do some Audi A5 models have a Virtual Cockpit while others do not?

I recently discovered that the Audi A5 comes with varying levels of technology options. One major difference is the availability of Audi's Virtual Cockpit feature, which displays digital instrumentation in place of traditional analog gauges. Can anyone explain why some A5 models have this feature while others do not?

According to Audi, the Virtual Cockpit feature is only available on higher trim levels of the A5, such as the Premium Plus and Prestige. This is because it requires additional hardware and technology that may not be included on lower trim levels.
