When should the timing belt be replaced in an Audi 80?

I'm looking to buy a used Audi 80 and I heard that the timing belt needs to be replaced at a certain point. Can anyone tell me when and why?

The timing belt should be replaced every 80,000-100,000 miles. This is to prevent any potential engine damage if it were to fail.

I would suggest getting the timing belt replaced at 80,000 miles to be on the safe side. It's better to be preventative with something like this than reactive.
