What type of transmission fluid does an Audi 80 use?

I recently purchased an Audi 80 and I am not sure what type of transmission fluid it requires. Can anyone help?

Most Audi 80 models use either DEXRON III or MERCON V transmission fluid. Double check your owner's manual to make sure.

Audi recommends using their own brand of transmission fluid, G 055 025 A2. You can purchase it at any Audi dealership.

Some owners have had success using Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF as a replacement for Audi recommended fluids.
