What is the recommended oil change frequency for an Audi 80?

I recently purchased an Audi 80 and was wondering how often I should be getting the oil changed. My mechanic recommended every 5,000 miles but I've also heard you can go longer with synthetic oil. What do you suggest?

Based on my experience with Audis, I recommend getting the oil changed every 6,000 miles if you're using conventional oil. However, if you're using high quality synthetic oil, you can extend it to every 10,000 miles.
