What is the difference between Audi Quattro and Audi All-Wheel Drive (AWD)?

I'm shopping for a new Audi, but I'm not sure what the main differences are between their famous Quattro system and their newer AWD system. Can anyone clue me in?

Audi Quattro is the original all-wheel drive system designed and developed by Audi, while AWD is a more recent addition that utilizes electronic control to distribute power between the front and rear axles. Quattro is known for its proven reliability and performance on any terrain, while AWD offers improved efficiency and handling on paved roads.
