What is the difference between Audi Quattro and All-Wheel Drive (AWD)?

I'm planning to buy an Audi car but I'm a bit confused about the difference between Audi's Quattro system and their AWD system. Can anyone clarify?

Audi's Quattro system is their own branded version of All-Wheel Drive (AWD). They are essentially the same thing - both systems distribute power to all four wheels for better traction and handling. The main difference is that Quattro uses a mechanical center differential whereas AWD systems can vary in their design and use electronic components.
