What is the difference between Audi A8 air suspension and adaptive dampers?

I've noticed that some Audi A8 models come with air suspension while others have adaptive dampers. What exactly is the difference between these two suspension systems and are there any advantages of one over the other?

Air suspension uses air-filled bags to adjust the ride height and comfort of the vehicle, while adaptive dampers use electronic sensors to adjust the shock absorbers for a smoother ride. In terms of comfort, air suspension tends to provide a more luxurious and smoother ride, while adaptive dampers offer better handling and responsiveness.

One advantage of air suspension is its ability to adjust the ride height, which can be helpful when navigating rough terrain. On the other hand, adaptive dampers are more suitable for high-performance driving as they can quickly adjust to the road conditions.

I personally prefer air suspension as it provides a more comfortable and smooth ride, especially on long journeys. However, I have friends who swear by adaptive dampers for their sporty driving style. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and the type of driving you do.
