What is the difference between a petrol and diesel engine in an Audi A2?

I'm trying to decide between buying a petrol or diesel Audi A2. Can someone explain the technical differences and which one would be better for me and my driving habits?

Petrol engines use spark ignition to combust fuel, while diesel engines use compression ignition. This means that petrol engines generally have a smoother and quieter operation, but diesel engines have better fuel efficiency and torque. If you have a longer daily commute, a diesel engine may be more cost-effective for you.

In the Audi A2, the diesel engine has a longer service interval compared to the petrol engine. This is due to the diesel engine's stronger construction and ability to sustain higher mileage. If you plan on keeping your car for a long time, a diesel engine may be more reliable in the long run.
