What is the cause of the clunking sound in my Audi 80's suspension?

I recently noticed a loud clunking noise whenever I go over bumps or rough roads in my Audi 80. What could be causing this issue?

The most likely cause of this issue is worn out shock absorbers. As they age, the rubber bushings and seals wear out, causing them to create noise and become less effective. Try replacing your shock absorbers to see if the noise goes away.

Another possible cause of the clunking noise could be a loose sway bar or sway bar links. These components help to stabilize the car's suspension and if they are loose, they can create noise when going over bumps. Check and tighten any loose sway bar components to see if the noise disappears.
