What causes the clutch to slip in an Audi 80?

I have noticed that my Audi 80 is exhibiting symptoms of a slipping clutch. It becomes difficult to engage gears and there is a burning smell when driving. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue and how it can be resolved?

The most common cause of a slipping clutch in the Audi 80 is worn friction clutch plates. These should be replaced as soon as possible to avoid further damage to the clutch system.
