What causes a car's engine to misfire and how can I fix it?

I drive an Audi but lately, I've noticed that my engine has been misfiring. What could be causing this issue and what can I do to fix it?

A misfiring engine is usually caused by a lack of spark, fuel, or compression. Start by checking your spark plugs and wires, then move on to your fuel injectors and air flow sensor. It's also possible that your ignition coil or distributor cap may need to be replaced.
