Is it possible to change the timing belt without removing the engine on an Audi 80?

I am attempting to replace the timing belt on my 1995 Audi 80 without removing the engine. I have read conflicting information online. Is it actually possible to change the timing belt without removing the engine or do I need to go through the hassle of removing it?

Yes, it is possible to change the timing belt on an Audi 80 without removing the engine. Many experienced mechanics do this regularly. However, it can be a difficult and time-consuming task, especially if you are not familiar with the process.

While it is technically possible to replace the timing belt without removing the engine, it is not recommended unless you have extensive experience and the proper tools. It is much easier and safer to remove the engine, especially for beginners.
