Is it normal that my Audi 80 makes a rattling noise while idling?

I recently purchased a used Audi 80 and have noticed that it makes a slight rattling noise whenever I'm at a stop. It doesn't seem to affect the performance of the car, but I'm wondering if this is a common issue or if I should have it checked out by a mechanic.

It's possible that the rattling noise is coming from a loose or worn out heat shield. This is a common issue in older cars and can easily be fixed by a mechanic. It's always a good idea to have any unusual noises checked out, just to be safe.

I've had a similar experience with my Audi 80. It turned out to be a loose bolt on the exhaust system. I would recommend having a mechanic take a look, as it could be something simple to fix like that.

It could also be a problem with the engine mount or transmission mount. These components can wear out over time and may need to be replaced. I would suggest having a mechanic inspect these areas to determine the exact cause of the rattling noise.
