How to replace the thermostat on an Audi 80?

I am having trouble with overheating in my Audi 80 and think it may be a faulty thermostat. Can anyone provide a step-by-step guide on how to replace it?

First, locate the thermostat housing by tracing the lower radiator hose. Then remove the housing and replace the thermostat. Make sure to bleed any air from the system before reattaching the housing.

I found it helpful to use a coolant flush before replacing the thermostat. This will ensure all debris and build-up is cleared before installing the new one.
