How to replace the coolant temperature sensor in Audi A6?

I am experiencing issues with my Audi A6's temperature gauge fluctuating and I suspect it may be due to a faulty coolant temperature sensor. How do I replace it and is there any special procedure I need to follow?

First, locate the coolant temperature sensor on your Audi A6 engine. It is usually found near the thermostat housing or on the cylinder head. You may need to remove some components to access it.

Once you have located the sensor, carefully disconnect the electrical connector and remove the old sensor from its housing. Be sure to drain any coolant that may spill out during this process.
